VAIO notebook preinstalled with Windows 2000 cannot display Command Prompt to full screen. For VAIO notebooks configured with XGA (1024x768) LCD, to display MS-DOS Tip to full screen, set up screen resolution under SVGA or VGA resolution. Please configure the settings again after Windows is started. After users restarting the computer, the size of the image may be changed. Please refer to the related product specifications on screen resolutions of the VAIO notebook. Im running Windows 10 on a 4k resolution screen and am running into the same problem, the font in the UI is unreadable due to its size. VAIO notebook configured with SXGA+ (1400x1050) LCD may not be able to display the image with the resolution SXGA(1280x1024) to full screen. If users use both liquid crystal display and external display, the images of both become smaller.(For the VAIO notebook configured with 815EM chipset or 830MG chipset). If users only change the screen resolution of the external display, it will always display full screen. 
If users use the shortcut keys ( Fn+ F10) to change screen resolution, only that of the liquid crystal display is changed. The problems caused by the product attributes When shortcut keys ( Fn+ F10) are used to change screen resolution, the following symptoms may occur because of the product attributes. In certain computer models without Auto Full Screen function, the displayed icons become larger when changing screen resolution. 
Users can set up picture resolution under screen resolution using the shortcut keys ( Fn+ F10). I just find it easiest to just click the power button on my monitor before moving my mouse to wake up the computer.Using the shortcut keys ( Fn + F10) to change screen resolution. Update (7/7/29): This problem still exists. Yesterday, I found a new drive update for my AMD video card, so hopefully this will fix the solution after all. While the monitor is still on, I would wake the computer again, and the resolution would fix itself. After waking the computer and when the resolution was wrong, I would put the computer back to sleep.
Update (6/19/19): Since writing this post, I found an easier solution. I’m not sure why this is happening, but my guess is that waking from sleep, Windows 10 isn’t getting the correct resolution from my monitor fast enough on some occasions. All the sudden, my monitor auto adjusted and I was able to select the 1920x1080 recommended resolution. I just unplugged my monitor and then plugged it back in. I researched online and tried many things such are uninstalling my video adapter’s driver and reinstalling the driver, but to no avail.
